HELP!111 art program stuf

Posted by boynachi - October 11th, 2024

i am within a conundrum: i need a tool or art program that lets different layers have seperate pixel sizes, or at least increase a brush size and fix it to a grid or something. ive noticed that with pixel art, free style brushing is very fun and sustainable, but with smaller sprites with more details, it becomes more necessary to use a reference at a higher resolution, so having something like that layered over my sprite art while i work would be incredibly helpful! (i have already tried downscaling a large image, it just doesnt work. less helpful than just spriting it myself (most of the time))

image is a demonstration of the effect i am going for.

the designs here are simple and blobbish, so it wasnt much difficulty to downscale a higher resolution and work with that. but i need more than that!

trying to do a little gmae jam for myself and i dont have much time to work with so my situation is QUITE orgent.

thanyou.

I am not quite sure if it'll work like that as I've never used them but I know Medibang Paint has some alternative pixel layer choices it might be what you're looking for, but again, I've never used them so I'm not quite sure

i get it but idk how

Pixelorama lets you put a high-res reference picture on top of your canvas with partial transparency.

this seems very nice but it seems completely incompatible with my drawing pen, would you be able to help me in that?
